Leola Jean Woodrome, 59, of Pleasant Hill, formerly of Lee's Summit, was born, Monday, August 17, 1953, in Kansas City, Missouri, the daughter of Arthur Lee and Edna May (Houston) Shepard. She departed this life at 8:57 p.m. on Saturday, May 11, 2013, at the Crown Care Center, Harrisonville.
She was a 1972 graduate of the Marion C. Early High School in Morrisville, Missouri.
Leola was a bus driver for the Lee's Summit School district for many years; later she drove for OATS Incorporated. In her spare time she loved reading, word searches, playing cards and visiting with her fellow bus drivers. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Leola was preceded in death by her mother.
She is survived by her father Arthur Shepard of Sun City, Arizona; two sons Quentin (and Amber) Woodrome of Grandview, and Arthur Dwayne (and Michelle) Jones of Holden; three grandchildren Kaylee Jones, Kinadie Jones, and Ryan Woodrome; two sisters Florence (and Charles) Nickerson of Harrisonville, and Sonja (and Larry) Berg of Phoenix, Arizona; other relatives and friends.
Cremation has been accorded. A memorial service was held Friday, May 17, 2013, at the Pleasant Hill Masonic Lodge. Inurnment will be in the Osceola Cemetery at a later date.
