Lynne Clawson-Day

April 24, 1952 — May 3, 2014

Cara Lynne Clawson-Day, 62, of Strasburg, Missouri, was born April 24, 1952, in Harrisonville, the daughter of Robert J. “Bob” and Gwylyn V. (George) Clawson. She departed this life at 10:40 p.m. Saturday, May 3, 2014, at Research Hospital Vitas Hospice, surrounded with love and family.

Lynne grew up on the Clawson family farm in Strasburg. She attended school in Strasburg until her 8th grade year; transferring to Pleasant Hill where she graduated in 1969.

She was the Manager of Continuing Education for the University of Missouri at Kansas City, where she had vested interest in the students on campus. In her spare time she mentored many of those students. She loved travelling but she especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Lynne was preceded in death by her mother Gwylyn on April 9, 1999.

She is survived by two sons, Travis M. (and Beth) Day of Durham, North Carolina, and Jon (and Cori) Day of Independence, Missouri; one daughter Suzy Day of Columbia, Missouri; four grandchildren, Collin M. Day and Keenan M. Day both of Durham, and Emma K. Day and Molly E. Day both of Independence; her father Bob Clawson of Warrensburg; one sister Cathleen Clawson Player of Pleasant Hill; other relatives; and many friends.

Cremation has been accorded. A memorial service was held Thursday, May 8, 2014, at the funeral home. Reverend D. Kent Deubner of the Pleasant Hill First Christian Church officiated.

Inurnment will be in the Strasburg Cemetery at a later date.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Latinos of Tomorrow, a student driven organization that Lynne closely worked with, and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
