Lynne Lankford

Lynne Thomas Lankford, 71, of Pleasant Hill, was born Friday, April 11, 1941 in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of Johnie F. and Lucille (Bundren) Lankford. He departed this life at 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 16, 2012 at his home near Pleasant Hill surrounded with love and family.

Tom was 1959 Northeast High School Graduate.

On April 14, 1962, he was united in marriage to Sherry Louise Payne in Sugar Creek.

Tom worked as a Local Union #576 meat cutter for many years, serving the Kansas City area. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his son John (and Lorie) Lankford of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania; his daughter Kristin Hines of Blue Springs; four grandchildren Devin Lankford of Lone Jack, Tyler Hines of Arlington, Virginia, Jill Hines and Thomas Hines, both of Blue Springs; four brothers Daniel (and Fern) Lankford and Tim (and Sharon) Lankford, both of Chilhowee; John (and Susan) Lankford of Clinton, and Matt (and Diane) Lankford of Deepwater; one sister Margaret (and Leonard) Shields of Chilhowee; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

Per Tom's request cremation has been accorded and no services are scheduled at this time.

Memorial contributions in Lynne's memory may be made to support the University of Kansas Cancer Center for Clinical Trials and Cancer Research. Memorial contributions may be made payable to KU Endowment and sent in care of the funeral home.
