Marilyn Sharp

Marilyn June Sharp Sparks, 91, of Kingsville, formerly of Pleasant Hill, was born, March 17, 1924, in Kansas City, Missouri, the daughter of Lillard Carson and Ora May (Wood) Wilmoth. She departed this life, Sunday, November 22, 2015, at her home.

Marilyn was a 1942 Pleasant Hill High School graduate.

On January 1, 1943, she was united in marriage to John W. "Bob" Sharp, in Kansas City; he preceded her in death on January 31, 1976. She later married Paul Sparks; he preceded her in death in 2002.

Marilyn and her husband Bob owned and operated Sharps Grocery store in Holden, El Dorado Springs, and Pleasant Hill. She was also a homemaker. Towards the end of her career she was employed at Gerbe's in Pleasant Hill. She was an active member of the Pleasant Hill First Christian Church, the Rebeka's, and the Royal Neighbors. She loved camping, cooking, dancing, and singing.

Marilyn was also preceded in death by two sisters, Bonnie Palmer and Dolores Clark.

She is survived by one son Mark Sharp of Harrisonville; one daughter, Zoe (and Bill) White of Kingsville; 5 grandchildren, Katie Richcreek of Pleasant Hill, Sarah Green of Lee's Summit, Rachel Marilyn (and Derek) Kauffman of Pleasant Hill, Jessica (and Josh) Hale of Lee's Summit, and Amara Bruno of Pleasant Hill; 11 great grandchildren; two brothers, Lillard Wilmoth of Pleasant Hill, and Huntley (and Gwen) Wilmoth of Overland Park; other relatives and friends.

Cremation has been accorded. A memorial service was held Thursday, December 3, 2015, at the Pleasant Hill First Christian Church. Reverend's D. Kent Deubner and Tony Reynolds officiated.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the First Christian Church and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
