Marvin Gray

W. MARVIN GRAY

William Marvin Gray, 86, lifelong resident of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, was born, April 27, 1935, in Pleasant Hill, the son of William P. “Bill” and Thelma M. (McBride) Gray.  He departed this life, Tuesday, September 21, 2021, at his home surrounded with love and family.

Marvin was a 1953 Pleasant Hill High School graduate.

On October 15, 1954, he was united in marriage to Elizabeth Sue Marriott in Pleasant Hill.  She preceded him in death on June 14, 2008.

Marvin was employed as a supervisor for the Ford Motor Company.  Marvin’s family also owned Gray’s Hardware and Furniture in downtown Pleasant Hill for many years where he also worked in and out of the store repairing appliances and small engines.  He was a member of the Pleasant Hill 1 st Baptist church, the United Auto Workers, Jewel Lodge #480 A.F. & A.M., and the Arat Shrine Temple.  He enjoyed golfing, flying his plane, and riding his yellow motorcycle.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Ralph Gray and Mike Gray; and two sisters, Marjorie Buckstead and Lois James.

He is survived by three sons, Stephen Kirk (and Mary Pat) Gray of Blue Springs, Missouri, Brian Keith (and Joy) Gray of Haslet, Texas, and William Kent (and Terri) Gray of Kingsville; five grandchildren, Michelle (and Brett) Hubbard, Christopher Gray, Lauren (and Ryan) Arnett, Nicholas Gray, and Amanda (and Mitch) Merz; 10 great grandchildren; special caregivers and friends, John and Amy Baldwin of Pleasant Hill; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Saturday, September 25, 2021, at the funeral home .  Pastor Tony Reynolds officiated.  Interment was in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.  Casket bearers were Keyton Baldwin, Keagan Baldwin, Kevin Buckstead, Christopher Gray, Nicholas Gray, Steve Gray, Glenn Hatch, and Greg James.  Honorary casket bearers were Brett Hubbard and Mitch Merz.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Shriner’s Hospital for Children and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
