MARY L. WILKES
Mary Louise Wilkes, 56, of Independence, Missouri, was born, December 24, 1962, in Independence, the daughter of Hubert L. “Sonny” and Katherine L. (Winslow) Beltz. She departed this life, Sunday, September 1, 2019, at the St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City.
Mary was a lifelong Independence resident and attended Van Horn high school.
On February 23, 1980, she was united in marriage to Steve Frisbee and to this union two sons, Matthew and Michael were born; they later divorced but remained friends. On July 13, 1997, she was united in marriage to Wesley Clay Wilkes in Raytown; he survives.
Mary was a Homemaker. She enjoyed going to the casino’s, cooking, collecting cookbooks, and bird watching, especially the Cardinal. Most important to her was family. She had a big family and she loved them all. Her love for everyone was endless and she would give the shirt off her back for anyone who needed anything at any time.
She was a former member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagle’s Lodge #47, Raytown, and a member of the Harmony Heights Baptist Church, Independence.
Mary was preceded in death by her father.
She is survived by her husband, Clay of the home; three sons, Matthew (and Jennifer) Frisbee of Raytown, Michael Frisbee of Independence, and Jesse (and Amanda) Wilkes of Belton; two daughters, Samantha Harris of Raytown, and Shawna (and James) Whittemore of Harrisonville; eight grandchildren; her mother, Katherine of Independence; three brothers, Thomas Beltz of Independence, Larry (and Karen) Beltz of Independence, and John (and Dee Dee) Beltz of Raytown; three sisters, Carol (and Steve) Silvers of Independence, Donna (and Bill) O’Malley of St. Louis, and Pamela (and Dan) Wood of Independence; other relatives and friends whom she held so close to her heart.
Funeral services were held Saturday, September 7, 2019, at the funeral home. Interment was in the Strasburg Cemetery. Casket bearers were Ethan Beltz, John Beltz, Nathan Beltz, Zach Beltz, Bill O’Malley, and Camern O’Malley.
