Matthew Lloyd Kyle, 93, of Pleasant Hill, was born December 10, 1932, in Brownfield, Texas, the son of Matthew David and Mary Annie (Vinyard) Kyle. He departed this life Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at Lee’s Summit Medical Center.
Matt moved to the Kansas City Area when he was nine years old. He was a United States Navy Korean War Veteran serving from 1952 to 1956, as Gunners Mate GM3 aboard the U.S.S. Cavallaro.
On August 14, 1982, he was united in marriage to Della Marie Garber. Marie preceded him in death just two months earlier on May 18, 2026.
Matt was employed at Bendix/Allied Signa for 35 years, retiring in March 1992. He was a member of the Pleasant Hill First Christian Church and a Life Member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #3118, Pleasant Hill. He enjoyed playing Bluegrass music on fiddle and guitar. He was an avid reader, loved to travel, and anything that Marie wanted to do!
Matt was also preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Kelly Canida, and two brothers, Perry Kyle and David Kyle.
He is survived by two children, Tami Kyle and Matthew M. Kyle; three stepdaughters, Theresa Rosco, Lisa (and Tommie) Faulkenberry, and Angela (and Dan Seetin); numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Visitation and funeral services were held Tuesday, July 14, 2026,at the funeral home. Pastor Jeff Faulkenberry officiated. A Final Salute Ceremony was conducted by Past Commander Ron Beatty. Interment was in the Mount Washington Cemetery in Independence with full military honors by the United States Navy and the V.F.W. Post #3118 Honor Guard. Casket bearers were Edward Steiner, Mathew Steiner, Benny Uselton, Sam Uselton, Sean Faulkenberry, and Steve Champion. Honorary casket bearers are Terry Faulkenberrry, Tommie Faulkenberry, and Dan Seetin.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the V.F.W. Post #3118 and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
