Merlene A. Richey

Merlene Adel Richey, 64, of Pleasant Hill, was born September 17, 1958, in Wichita, Kansas, the daughter of Marvin E. and Barbara J. (Carterette) Richey.  She departed this life, Saturday, June 10, 2023, at her home surrounded by her family.

Merlene was employed as a Machinist early in her career but was driven by natural curiosity to pursue many endeavors. After moving to Pleasant Hill, she became a full-time homemaker.  She enjoyed music of all genres, working crossword puzzles and word finds, and watching television game shows (especially anything with Steve Harvey). She also enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Merlene was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her children, Tracy (and Jason) Smith of Pleasant Hill, Travis Johnson of Kansas City, Teresa Johnson of Pleasant Hill, Terry Edwards of Kansas City, and Trent Edwards of Blue Springs; ten grandchildren; six great grandchildren; Katherine and Craig Rigg and her brothers and sisters as well as many friends.

Pursuant to her wish, cremation has been accorded. No services are scheduled at this time.
