Michael J. Smith

Michael Joseph “Mike” Smith, 62, of Pleasant Hill, was born April 23, 1961, in St. Joseph, Missouri, the son of Jack N. and Shirley F. (Wilson) Smith.  He departed this life Sunday, March 17, 2024, at his home, surrounded with love and family.

Mike was a 1980 Pleasant Hill High school graduate and furthered his education by learning small engine repair at the University of Central Missouri.

Mike was first employed at the A.D. Mohr Greenhouse in Pleasant Hill.  Later he worked as a Machine Operator at the Stahl’s Specialty Company in Kingsville. When he was younger Mike was a member of the Hope Baptist Church and the Boy Scout Troop #300 and the Tribe of Mic-O-Say.  He enjoyed gardening, fishing, and tinkering around with small engines.  He especially enjoyed time spent with his children and grandchildren.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, Loren Parris; one brother, Timothy Smith; one grandson, Jase Williams; two great grandsons, Brecken Smith and Keyon Matthews.

He is survived by three daughters, Kayla (and Heather) Wilson of Gloucester, Massachusetts: Jennifer Smith (and John Koetting, Jr.) of Pleasant Hill; and Heather Smith (and John Green) of Harrisonville; 9 grandchildren, Sean, Lucas, Brooklyn, Bryona, Brynden, Jamisonn, Justus, Jace, and Phoenix; two brothers, John (and Mary) Smith of Linn Grove, Iowa; Dan (and Mary) Smith of Pleasant Hill; other relatives and friends.

Cremation has been accorded.

A celebration of Mike’s life will be held 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. Saturday, April 20, 2023, at Dan and Mary’s home, 18325 S. Walker Estates Rd., Pleasant Hill, Missouri 64080.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Boy Scout Troop #300 and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
