MSgt Henry C. Woodard Jr., USAF (Ret)

MSgt Henry Carlton “Carl” Woodard Jr. USAF (Ret.), 64, of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, was born November 11, 1960, in Columbia, Tennessee, the son of Henry C. Sr. and Peggy A. (Sharp) Woodard. He departed this life Tuesday, September 2, 2025.

Carl was a 1972 Columbia High School graduate later earning an associate degree from Columbia Community College.

On September 7th, 1991, he was united in marriage to Susan K. Niehouse in Belton, Missouri, and to this union two children, Kayla and Cody were born. They later divorced.

Carl proudly served in the United States Air Force 442 Airborne as a jet mechanic for 30 years. He was a veteran of Operation Desert Storm and the Global War on Terror. He enjoyed golfing and gun collecting. He was stoic and a gifted handyman who was passionate about helping others. From a widow needing a toilet repaired to helping a young mother fix something in their home, he was always willing to help. He enjoyed spending time with family especially his grandson.

Carl is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Kayla and Jesten Jepsen of Lee’s Summit; one grandson, Ezra Jepsen and his son and daughter-in law, Cody and Alyssa Woodard of Springfield, Missouri; three sisters, Cathy Creel, Ruth Johnson and Pam Connelly, of Columbia, Tennessee; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Private graveside services with full military honors by the United States Air Force were held in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Higginsville, Missouri.
