Nancy L. Alberg

Pleasant Hill, Missouri

Nancy Lou (Ashley) Alberg, 81, of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, was born February 21, 1943, in Kansas City, Kansas, the daughter of Ernest J. and Esther R. (Kallenback) Ashley. She departed this life Sunday, April 14, 2024, at the Saint Luke’s Hospice House in Kansas City. 

Nancy was a 1961 Wyandotte High School graduate. 

She was first united in marriage to Larry D. Evans in Kansas City, Kansas; and to this union four children, Carrie, Timothy, Susan, and Julie were born; they later divorced.  In 1987, she was united in marriage to John A. Alberg in Topeka; he preceded her in death in 2012.

Nancy was a “Mom”. She did whatever needed to be done. She was a Bluebird and Campfire leader, a volleyball coach, and headed up the Victory Hills Junior Golf program. She was an active member of the Junior League of KCK where she performed in numerous Children’s Theatre productions. She was proud of her WYCO heritage of grit, honesty and integrity. Later in life she and her husband, John owned and operated the Riverbend Golf Course in Brownsville, Texas. She was lifetime member of the Central Christian Church in Kansas City, Kansas. She was also actively involved in the Tip of Texas Family Assistance Program in Brownsville and later at the Don Bosco Center in Kansas City. She enjoyed golfing. She loved spending time with her family, especially attending her grandchildren’s academic, extracurricular and sporting events. Whatever the event, expect chocolate chip cookies or brownies for the team. 

Nancy was also preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Sue Cantrell and Shirley Landis. 

She is survived by her children, Carrie Storm of Overland Park, Timothy Evans of Overland Park, Susan (and Paul) Canaan of Pleasant Hill, and Julie (and Kevin) Spatz of Lenexa; twelve grandchildren, Ashley (and Zach) Whitehurst, Stephen Hovermale, Alexandra Storm, Thomas Storm, William Evans, Jackson Evans, Garrett Canaan, Joliana Canaan, Ryan Canaan, Evan Garrett, Elizabeth Garrett, and Eion Spatz; three great grandchildren, Ryder, Phillip, and Walker; other relatives and friends. 

Per Nancy’s request cremation has been accorded. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
