Naomi R. Downey

Naomi Rue Downey, 77, of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, was born August 1, 1948, in Kansas City, Missouri, the daughter of William Arthur “Art” and Martha Naomi (Cunningham) Covey. She departed this life Monday, September 1, 2025, at Kansas City Hospice House.

Naomi was a 1966 South Omaha High School graduate.

On August 13, 1983, she was united in marriage to Richard Duane Downey in Grandview, Missouri. He preceded her in death on December 3, 2009.

Naomi was employed as a billing clerk for ABCO Medical Supply and was a homemaker. She enjoyed cooking, crafting, and caring for her dogs.00

Naomi was also preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Charles Covey.

She is survived by her son Robert Downey of Pleasant Hill; one brother, William “Chip” (and Cindy) Covey of Springfield, Missouri; other relatives and friends.

Graveside funeral services were held  Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at the Coffey Cemetery, Coffey, Missouri.
