NEIL A. HELGREN

Neil Allen Helgren, 65, of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, was born, November 9, 1954, in Norfolk, Virginia, the son of Richard Matthew and Barbara Lee (Caffee) Helgren.  He departed this life, Thursday, November 14, 2019, at his home.

Neil grew up and went to school in the Norfolk, Virginia area, and lived in Norfolk and Chesapeake  prior to moving to Missouri eight years ago.

On November 25, 1972, he was united in marriage to Debra Ann Lambert in Virginia Beach; they later divorced.  In January 1984, he was united in marriage to Tina Rae Lewis in Norfolk; they later divorced as well.

Neil had been employed as a plumber for forty years working for the E.B. Sam’s Plumbing Co. in Norfolk and later for Curtis Key Plumbing in Virginia Beach. He was a gifted mechanic and enjoyed working on old cars and motorcycles.  He especially loved Harley-Davidson.

Neil was preceded in death by his father, Richard Helgren; his mother and step-father, Barbara and Melvin Palmer; and two sisters, Cheryl Palmer-Capriotti and Dawn Roxanne Helgren-Oliver.

He is survived by three sons, Justin (and Nakia) Helgren, and Adam (and Amber) Helgren, both of Pleasant Hill, and William Travis (and Melinda) Helgren of Chesapeake, Virginia; one daughter, Stacy Dawn Helgren of Elizabeth City, North Carolina; seven grandchildren, Justin (and Andrea) Helgren, Vivica Helgren, and Esabel Helgren, all of Pleasant Hill, Kaia Helgren, Vada Helgren, and Heidi Helgren, all of Chesapeake, and Calista Helgren of Elizabeth City; one great grandchild, Keenan Helgren of Pleasant Hill; one brother, Bradley Palmer of Norfolk; two sisters, Lorie (and Greg) Ferguson of Bryan Texas, and Brandi (and J.R.) Robertson of Virginia Beach; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

Cremation has been accorded. Private family services were held Thursday, November 21st, 2019, at the family home.
