Norma L. Duncan

Norma Lee Duncan, 88, of Pleasant Hill, was born February 21, 1936, in Strasburg, the daughter of Clifford I. and Hazel L. (Hobbs) Windsor.  She departed this life Friday, May 10, 2024, at the Belton Regional Medical Center with family by her side.

Norma was a 1953 Kingsville High School graduate.

On February 21, 1955, she was united in marriage to John R. Duncan, Jr. in Independence and to this union three children, Rhonda, Donald, and James were born.

Norma was first employed at the Safeway Grocery Store in Independence.  After her children started school, she went to work as a secretary for the Strasburg School district for over twenty years then as the head cook for the Lone Jack Schools, retiring in 1998.  She was an avid supporter of the Strasburg Schools, especially the basketball team, and continued supporting them long after she retired.  She was a member of the Strasburg Union Church for over 50 years.   She also served many years as the Election Judge in the Strasburg Voting Precinct.  She enjoyed sewing, quilting, playing cards, time spent at the lake, and loved bowling. She was a wonderful home keeper and mother who most enjoyed time spent with family and friends. 

Norma was preceded in death by her parents; one infant son, Donald Clifford Duncan in 1965; and two sisters, Carol Sevy and Lois Carson.

She is survived by her husband of 69 years, John of Pleasant Hill; two children and their spouses, Rhonda and Tony Norvell and Jim and Shannon Duncan all of Pleasant Hill; four grandchildren, Cody (and Jessica) Norvell, Clayton (and Nicole) Norvell, Alena Duncan, and Delaney Duncan, all of Pleasant Hill; four great grandchildren, Cooper Norvell, Lainey Norvell, Sadie Norvell, and Tucker Norvell; other relatives and friends.

Visitation was held Thursday, May 16, 2024, at the funeral home.
 
Funeral services were held Friday, May 17, 2024, at the funeral home.   Pastor David Hackett officiated.    Interment was in the Duncan Cemetery, Kingsville. Casket bearers were Cody Norvell, Clayton Norvell, Tony Norvell, Alena Duncan, Delaney Duncan, and Jim Duncan.  Honorary casket bearers were Cooper Norvell, Lainey Norvell, Sadie Norvell, Tucker Norvell, and Tom Stock.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Wesley Chapel Cemetery or the Duncan Cemetery and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
