Norma Heryford

December 25, 1930 — June 27, 2014

Norma Woodola Heryford, 83, of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, was born, December 25, 1930, in Skiatook, Oklahoma the daughter of John Thomas and Georgia Ett (Sullivan) Elliott. She departed this life at 9:41 a.m. Friday, June 27, 2014, at her home in Pleasant Hill surrounded with love and family.

On November 16, 1953, she was united in marriage to Melvin Finley Heryford in Stockton, Missouri. He preceded her in death on August 3, 1985.

Norma was employed by the AD Mohr Greenhouse in Pleasant Hill for many years. She later worked for Harrisonville Harness retiring in 1992. While her children were still home she was actively involved with Boy Scouts. In later years she volunteered as Auxiliary at the Caplinger Mills Fire Department.

Norma was also preceded in death by her parents and one grandson Michael Coffel.

She is survived by ten children, Tom (and Jo Lea) Elliott of Pleasant Hill, Hazel (and Matt) Brock of Lebanon, Missouri, Alvin (and Cathy) Heryford of Olympia, Washington, Nancy (and Bill) Powell of Clinton, Missouri, Donald Heryford of Stockton, Francis (and Marvin) Hopkins of Urich, Missouri, Bobby (and Diane) Heryford of St. Charles, Missouri, Mary (and Daniel) Smith of Pleasant Hill, Raymond (and LaDell) Heryford of Stockton, Missouri, Donna (and Albert) Coffel of Pleasant Hill; 35 grandchildren; 53 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; two brothers, George Elliott of Stockton, and Melvin (and Pat) Elliott of Glendale, Arizona; her companion of 26 years Kenneth Heryford; other relatives; and a host of many friends.

Visitation was held Tuesday, July 1, 2014, at the funeral home.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 1, 2014, at the funeral home. Reverend Rod Barnes officiated. Interment was in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Casket bearers were Alvin Heryford, Raymond Heryford, Bobby Heryford, Don Heryford, Tom Elliott, and Marvin Hopkins.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Grace Hospice or the Caplinger Mills Fire Dept. and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
