Norma L. Walton

Norma Louise Walton, 78, of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, was born May 27, 1948, in Madison, Indiana, the daughter of TC and Zelma Louise (Day) Courtney. She departed this life Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at Ignite Medical Resort of Blue Springs, surrounded with love and family.

Norma and her family moved to Kansas City when she was young and attended Westport High School.

On December 31, 1965, she was united in marriage to Louis Joseph Walton at the Richards Gebaur Air Force Base in Grandview. To this union two children, Barbara JoAnn and Louis Joseph, were born. They later divorced.

Norma was employed as an examiner for the Internal Revenue Service in Kansas City. More importantly she was a devoted homemaker, mom, and grandma, to her family. She was a member of the St. Bridget Catholic Church in Pleasant Hill. She was also an active member of the Pleasant Hill Red Hatters. She enjoyed reading, puzzles, and playing BINGO.

Norma’s greatest love was her grandchildren and great grandchildren. That is when she was the happiest and lit up with life; no hobby or social group even came close. She loved being nanny.

Norma was preceded in death by her parents TC & Zelma.

She is survived by her children and their spouses Barbara and Eric Solverson of Seabrook Island, South Carolina, and Louis and Mary Ann Walton of Pleasant Hill; three grandchildren, Aeby Walton (and Chris McFarland), Shelby (and Shale) Henson, and Olivia (and Owen) Daugherty; four great grandchildren, Adrianna Gimmarro, Maci Murphy, Ronyn McFarland, Stevie Henson; two siblings, Shirley Keith and Bob (and Sherry) Courtney, of Pleasant Hill; two lifelong close friends, Joyce Beattie and Diana Wilmoth, both meant the world to her; other relatives and friends.

Visitation was held Friday, July 17, 2026, at the funeral home.

Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday, July 18, 2026, at the St. Bridget Catholic Church, Pleasant Hill. Reverend Father Curt Vogel officiated. Interment was in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Casket bearers were Louis Walton, Eric Solverson, Chris McFarland, Owen Daugherty, Stacy Bryant, and Gavin Neill,
