Paul A. Haunschild

November 1, 1957 — March 31, 2023

Pleasant Hill, Missouri

Paul Alan Haunschild, 65, of Pleasant Hill, Missouri was born November 1, 1957, in Kansas City, Missouri. He departed this life Friday, March 31, 2023, at the Kansas City Hospice House surrounded by those closest to him.

Paul graduated from J.C. Harmon High School in 1975 and received his associate degree from Butler County Community College, where he excelled at football the two years he attended.

On October 5, 1974, he married Maria Savala in Kansas City, Kansas, with whom he raised two daughters in his family’s farmhouse after relocating to Pleasant Hill, Missouri in 1980.

Paul was co-founder and co-owner of Eldecon, Inc. in Kansas City, Missouri. He was a respected member of the electrical community for over four decades. His work ethic was unmatched. His dedication and passion for his field lives on through the numerous people who he trained and mentored. Paul established and maintained relationships throughout his life because of his endless patience and generosity. He went out of his way to help others and he was the person many called when help was needed.

In the rare instances Paul took time off from work, he spent much of that time hiking around the country. He had many fun adventures with his family, and he conquered difficult hikes in Colorado, California, Arizona, and Utah, including summitting Angel’s Landing in Zion National Park. He and his oldest daughter loved to go on camping trips together out west.

Paul loved the outdoors. He enjoyed living in the country and took full advantage of both the woods and pond on his property. He liked to hunt and fish and was proficient with his bow in both activities. He volunteered his time and cooked for a youth bow fishing tournament every year and took every opportunity to fish with his youngest grandson. Paul was also an avid gardener and planted a large garden each year. Paul and Maria loved to host parties and family events at their house. Paul was a master at the grill and appreciated home cooking and good food.

Paul was also a sports lover. He enjoyed watching the Kansas Jayhawks and attended many NASCAR races with friends. He spent many years attending Chiefs games with his youngest daughter where they would put on a tailgate that was envied by many.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents Robert L. and Billie J. (Gunn) Haunschild.  and his brother, Robert L. Haunschild, Jr. He is survived by his wife Maria of Pleasant Hill, Missouri; daughters, Nicholle Cheesman (Martin Edwards) of Fayetteville, Arkansas, and Richelle Haunschild (Richard Wilson) of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; grandsons, Gavin Wilson of St. Charles, Missouri, and Dominic Wilson of Lee’s Summit; and sister Carol Hayes (Greg) of Summersville, Missouri. He also leaves behind nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
