Phillip E. Crotty

Phillip Eugene Crotty, 83, of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, was born, November 23, 1938, in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of Laurence F. and Florene (Fowler) Crotty.  He departed this life Sunday, May 15, 2022, at his home surrounded with love and family. 

Phil was a 1956 Kansas City Southeast High School graduate. Later he attended the Pipefitters school in Kansas City.

He was a United States Navy Veteran.

On June 9, 1957, he was united in marriage to Dolores Lee Hanna in Kansas City.  She preceded him in death on March 23, 2015.

Phil was employed as a Union Pipefitter with Local #533. He and Dolores also owned and operated the Western Auto Store in downtown Pleasant Hill from 1982 to1992.  He was a member of the Pleasant Hill First Christian Church and the American Legion.  He enjoyed fishing, watching television, and getting out visiting with people.  He had the gift to gab and loved a good conversation and talking with anyone.

Phil was also preceded in death by one grandson, Phillip Lee Slayden; his parents; and two sisters, Jane Willis and Susan McLaughlin.

He is survived by four children, Walter “Butch” (and Lena) Crotty of Pleasant Hill, Dawn Crotty of Pleasant Hill, Peggy and Kelly Hart of Kingsville, and Jimmy (and Kathy) Crotty of Pleasant Hill; eleven grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren (with one on the way); other relatives; and a host of many friends.

Visitation was held Tuesday, May 17, 2022, at the funeral home.

Funeral service were held Wednesday, May 18, 2022, at the funeral home.  Reverend D. Kent Deubner officiated.  Interment was in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.  Casket bearers were Butch Crotty, Jimmy Crotty, Pete Slayden, Kyle Crotty, Bo Hart, Derek Crotty, and Tyler Crotty.  Honorary casket bearers were Charlie Walker and Bill Clawson.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Pleasant Hill First Christian Church and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
