Rachel R. Garrison

February 7, 1987 — December 21, 2025

Harrisonville, formerly of Pleasant Hill and Lee's Summit

Rachel Renee Garrison, 38, of Harrisonville, formerly of Pleasant Hill and Lee's Summit, was born February 7, 1987, in Kansas City, the daughter of Peter J. and Kathryn R. (Woodrum) Garrison. She departed this life Sunday, December 21, 2025, at the Bothwell Regional Hospital in Sedalia.

Rachel was disabled from birth but worked hard every day to overcome any challenges that came her way. She was a 2004 Pleasant Hill High School graduate later earning her Bachelor of Science in Education in Early Childhood Development from Central Missouri State University.

Rachel adored children and worked as a childcare provider when she was young. At the age of thirteen she accepted Jesus Christ into her life. She was a former member of the First Presbyterian Church of Pleasant Hill, was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lee's Summit and was currently attending Crossroads Assembly in Harrisonville. She was also an auxiliary member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Arie #47 in Kansas City where she served as Trustee. Rachel lived a simple life enjoying walks to the Neighborhood Café, drinking iced tea, watching Disney and the Golden Girls, and listening to K-Love. Above all she loved time spent with family especially her nieces Cora and Adelynn.

Rachel will long be remembered for her kindness as well as for her caring compassionate way of life. It is only fitting that through her untimely passing she was able to give four other individuals an opportunity to live through organ donation. Her memory will live on through many others.

Rachel was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, William "Bill" and Dr. Alice Marsh-Garrison; maternal grandparents, Lee John and Ruth (Hammond) Woodrum; father, Peter James Garrison, and her longtime life partner, Steve Gibson.

She is survived by her mother and stepfather, Kathy and Jeff Giffen of Kansas City; brother and sister-in-law, Phillip and Brittany (Tinsley) Garrison of Harrisonville; paternal aunt, Sara (and Joe) Revelle of Fulton; maternal uncles, John (and Karla) Woodrum of Thornton, Colorado, and Mark Woodrum (and Dr. Beth Cameron) of Estes Park, Colorado; other relatives and friends.

Cremation has been accorded. A celebration of her life will be held Saturday, February 7, 2026, in Harrisonville. Time and location will be published here when that information becomes available.
