RICHARD E. HAMLIN
Richard Earl Hamlin, 78, of Belton, was born, June 10, 1942, in Marion, Kansas, the son of Earl and Bonnie Jeanne (Knight) Hamlin. He departed this life Wednesday, November 4, 2020, at the Centerpoint Medical Center surrounded with love and family.
Richard was a 1961 graduate of Center High School, Kansas City.
On December 18, 1980, he was united in marriage to Priscilla Marie Mehrer in Kansas City.
Richard was employed as a plant manager for the Ash Grove Cement Company. He was a member of the former Assembly of God Church in East Lynne and was a member of the East Gate Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed going to auctions and the casino; he most enjoyed spending time with family, especially his grandchildren. He had the gift to gab, was a grand story-teller, was helpful and kind; and always put others first.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Robert “Bobby” Hamlin.
He is survived by his wife Priscilla of the home; three daughters, Barbara Turner of Grandview, Susan (and Doug) Vail of Gilbert, Arizona, Rachel (and Stefanie) Shustek of Lee’s Summit; six grandchildren, David Dysart, Miranda Vail, Kayla Vail, Daniel Vail, Theodore Shustek, and Lucas Shustek; one brother, Kenny Hamlin of Liberty; two sisters, Patty (and Pat) Logue of Sunrise Beach, and Becky (and Don) Shields of St. Petersburg, Florida; one brother-in-law, Frank Mehrer of Belton; two sisters-in-law, Kay Sevy of Creighton and Patti Hamlin of Louisville, Kentucky; other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, November 11, 2020, at the funeral home. Reverend D. Kent Deubner officiated. Cremation was accorded following services with inurnment in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
