Robert Callaway

Pleasant Hill, Missouri

Robert Ervin “Bob” Callaway, 66, lifelong resident of Pleasant Hill, was born June 22, 1957, in Harrisonville, the son of Robert P. and Mary E. (Greer) Callaway.  He departed this life Friday, February 16, 2024, at home surrounded by family.

Bob was a 1975 Pleasant Hill High School graduate where he enjoyed wrestling and was an active member of the Future Farmers of America.

On September 23, 2006, he was united in marriage to Minnie M. Kidwell in Pleasant Hill.

Bob was employed at Lake City Army Ammunition plant for over 28 years. He also worked his family’s farm West of Pleasant Hill.  He was a member of the Hickory Grove Baptist Church.  He enjoyed gardening and working on his farm.  He also enjoyed barbecuing for his family at family gatherings. He was an avid guitar player and loved playing and singing for family and friends.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; his stepfather, James Hyden; and one sister, Linda Lahey.

He is survived by his wife, Minnie of Pleasant Hill; four children, Christopher (and Shelly) Kidwell of Wellington, Stephanie (and Eric) Schroeder of Lexington, Candace (and Richard) Smedley and Gary Coe of Pleasant Hill; seventeen grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; three sisters, Phyllis (and Ron) Peters of Independence, Reta (and Eric) Sharp and Mary (and Tim) Hofstetter of Pleasant Hill; brother-in-law, Jim Lahey of Pleasant Hill; other relatives and friends.

Visitation was held Friday, February 23, 2024, at the funeral home.

Funeral services were held Saturday, February 24, 2024, at the funeral home.  Pastor Mark Conway officiated.  Interment was in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.  Casket bearers were Jacob Blume, Gary Coe, Charlie Greer, Jake Greer, Justin Hofstetter, Chris Kidwell, Jeremy Mullin, and Eric Sharp.  Honorary casket bearers were Tim Hofstetter, Ron Peters, Eric Sharp, and Steve White.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the V.F.W. Post #3118 or the Lay Clergy and may be sent in in care of the funeral home.
