Robert Dierking

Robert William Dierking, 89, of Pleasant Hill, formerly of Concordia, was born, December 30, 1927, in Concordia, the son of Theodore and Clara (Oetting) Dierking.  He departed this life Tuesday, August 08, 2017, at the Missouri Veteran’s Home, Warrensburg.

Robert was a Concordia High School graduate.  He was a United States Navy Veteran serving on the U.S.S. New Jersey.  Following his time in the service he returned home to his parent’s dairy farm.

On October 15, 1955, he was united in marriage to Amary Jean Flandermeyer at the St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Ernestville, Missouri.  To this union one son Kent Dierking was born.

They sold the family farm in 1959 and moved to Kansas City where he went to work for the W.C. Tingle Company, a wholesale distributing company for Armstrong Linoleum. He worked for W. C. Tingle for over 30 years retiring in 1995.  He was a gifted organist and served the Lord for over 65 years playing at the St. John Lutheran Church, Emma, Missouri, the Peace Lutheran Church, Kansas City, Missouri, and the St. Matthew Church, Lee’s Summit, Missouri.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Dolores Jenkins; and an infant brother.

He is survived by his wife, Jean of Pleasant Hill; his son and daughter-in-law Kent and Susanne Dierking of Pleasant Hill; three grandchildren, Cody Dierking of Macon, Missouri,  Jacob Dierking and Kaitlin Dierking, both of Pleasant Hill; one brother, Lester Dierking of Concordia; one sister, Eunice Wilkens of Concordia; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Friday, August 11,  at the St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Lee's Summiut. Reverend Otto Craig officiated.

Graveside military services and interment were held at the St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Concordia. Casket bearers were Cody Dierking, Jacob Dierking, Danny Vaughn, Erik Wilkens, Kurt Wilkens, and Kyle Wilkens.  Honorary Casket Bearers were Donald Dedeke, Keith Dierking, Danny Jenkins, Richard Jenkins, Ron Jenkins, and Larry Jenkins.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the St. Matthew Church building fund and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
