Robert William “Bob” Hofschild, 81, of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, was born June 17, 1944, in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin, the son of Raymond and Margaret (Hanifin) Hofschild. He departed this life Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at St. Luke’s East with family by his side.
Bob grew up in Wisconsin Rapids and was a 1962 Assumption High School graduate. He was a United States Army Veteran.
On June 11, 1977, he was united in marriage to Donna M. Hofschild in Wisconsin Rapids and to this union two daughters, Nicole and Carissa were born. Donna preceded him in death on February 17, 2022.
Bob was employed as a maintenance engineer for the City of Wisconsin Rapids. He was a former member of the Port Edwards Lions Club and was active in the P.T.A. at the St. Paul Lutheran School in Wisconsin when his girls were younger. In his younger years he was a Stock Car Racer. He was gifted with the ability to fix and build anything and took great pride in his work. He enjoyed watching football, especially the Green Bay Packers, working around his home and yard, and spending time with family, especially his grandchildren.
Bob was also preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Ron Hofschild; and one sister, Suzi Gray.
He is survived by his daughters and their husbands, Nicole and Doug Abel of Lee’s Summit, and Carissa and Greg Abel of Pleasant Hill; three grandchildren, Callie Abel, Cole Abel, and Ethan Abel; one sister, Joanne (and Bill) Karberg of Port Edwards; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held Sunday, September 7, 2025, at the funeral home.
Funeral services were held Monday, September 8, 2025, at the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, Pleasant Hill. Pastor James Stanfied-Myers officiated.
Graveside military services and interment were held in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Higginsville, with full military honors by the United States Army and the V.F.W. Post #4052, Lexington, Honor Guard.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Pleasant Hill Lay Clergy and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
