Robert Eugene Oswalt, 82, of Pleasant Hill, Missouri was born December 6, 1928 in Denver, Colorado the son of Harry Otto and Ethal Mae (Cottington) Oswalt. He departed this life at 11:45 a.m. on Sunday, July 3, 2011 at the Pleasant Hill Health and Rehabilitation Center.

On December 11, 1955, Robert was united in marriage to Joan Linnea Fortin in Brighton, Colorado.

Robert was employed as a truck driver for Natkin Sheet Metal in Englewood, Colorado until his retirement in 1985. He moved to Pleasant Hill in 1987 and was employed as the first maintenance person for Pleasant Hill Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was a member of the First Christian Church, Pleasant Hill, Missouri, the Teamsters Union Local 13 and the American Legion both in Denver, Colorado. Robert loved to fish, hunt, collect model cars and do woodwork. His greatest love was to be around his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two children, Christy Trautman and Christopher Gary.

He is survived by his wife, Joan Oswalt of the home; three children, Robin George and Debbie Russell both of Pleasant Hill, Missouri and Richard Johnson; 9 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Naomi Lahr, Betty Gerard and Ruth Bergman all of Denver, Colorado; other relatives and many friends.

Cremation has been accorded. A Memorial Graveside Service was held Saturday, July 16, 2011 at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Pleasant Hill, Missouri.

Family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church Memorial Fund, Pleasant Hill, Missouri.
