Sandi Beatty

November 4, 1948 — March 24, 2026

Pleasant Hill, Missouri

Sandra Faye "Sandi" Beatty, 77, lifelong resident of Pleasant Hill, was born November 4, 1948, in an apartment on First Street in downtown Pleasant Hill, the daughter of Frances V. "Pete" and Nannie P. (Smith) McMurphy. She departed this life Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at her home surrounded by love and family.

The family moved to Butler for a short time when she was young but returned to Pleasant Hill when she was in elementary school. She was a 1966 Pleasant Hill High School graduate. She always lamented the fact that girls were not allowed to play sports while she was in high school.

On April 23, 1971, she was united in marriage to Ronald Lee Beatty at the First Christian Church in Pleasant Hill and to this union three children, Jason, Jodie, and Jenny were born.

Just days after graduating high school she went to work for the City of Pleasant Hill and during her time, she served in many capacities and was "pretty good" at everything she tried. She served the city of Pleasant Hill for 43 years until her retirement as City Clerk in 2009 due to declining health.

Her service to the community went beyond city hall. She was a lifelong member of the Pleasant Hill First Christian Church where she was active in the Christian Women's Fellowship, and served as Chairman of the Board, Deacon, and Elder. She coached t-ball, baseball, and softball when the kids were young. Was a charter member of Beta Sigma Phi, a life member of the Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #3118, past president of the Pleasant Hill Chamber of Commerce, and was instrumental in the design and development of Hunters Ridge.

She enjoyed mowing her yard, trips to the "Yacht Club" (the Casino's), and riding motorcycles through the trails of Chadwick earning more trophies to add to her collection. Above everything else she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Sandra was preceded in death by her parents; three siblings, Infant Katherine McMurphy, Vernon McMurphy, and Dorothy Miller; brothers-in-law, Donald Miller and Jack Zellmer.

She is survived by her husband, Ron of Pleasant Hill; children, Jason Beatty, Jodie Beatty, and Jenny (and Tim) Kimrey all of Pleasant Hill; seven grandchildren, Braden Beatty, Anna Beatty, Justin Wasson, Jessie Wasson, Jeremy Brant, Reagan Kimrey, and Ethan Kimrey; one sister, Patsy Zellmer of Lexington, Nebraska, sister-in-law (and lifetime best friend) Christine McMurphy of Pleasant Hill. She is also survived by a plethora of Beta Sigma Phi sisters in Pleasant Hill and across the country many of whom have been by her side through the last 17 years through her battle with lung cancer.

In her final year, Sandi was surrounded by extraordinary care and unwavering love. Her husband, Ron, along with her daughter Jodie and grandchildren Justin and Jessie, cared for her with a level of devotion, compassion, and strength that brought her comfort, dignity, and peace through every stage of her journey.

After a courageous 17-year journey that began with a prognosis of only months, Sandi defied expectations time and again with strength, determination, and grit. While the road was long and often difficult, she never stopped showing up for the people she loved.

She is now at peace—finally resting and breathing comfortably again.

Visitation was held Tuesday evening, March 31, 2026, at the funeral home.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at the funeral home. Reverend Terry Diehl and Chaplain Lavonne Pappert officiated. Interment was in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
