Sharon Kay Rhodes, 60, of Harrisonville, Missouri, formerly of Pleasant Hill, was born Monday, September 25, 1950 in Kansas City, Missouri, the daughter of Kenneth LeRoy and Helen Louise (Cornett) Fleming. She departed this life at 9:37 p.m. on Saturday, August 27, 2011 at the St. Joseph Medical Center, Kansas City.
Sharon was employed as a Seamstress for Royal Emblem in Lee's Summit and Liddles Sport Shop in Blue Springs until failing health forced her to retire early in 1988.
Sharon was very involved with her graduating class of 1969 she enjoyed seeing and talking with classmates and friends about life and when times were easier. She also enjoyed her scrap booking and had many books that she has made for family. She was also involved with the Saint Jude's Children Cancer Society. The most important to her was her grandchildren, she was always going to any after school events and attending anything that she could involving the grandchildren, and was always wanting to have them stay at her house for overnight sleepovers.
She was preceded in death by Kenneth and Helen Fleming and one granddaughter Hayley Rhodes.
She is survived by two sons Steve (and Megan) Rhodes of Harrisonville and Keith (and Karen) Rhodes of Mayer, Minnesota; two grandchildren Makinzie Rhodes and Hunter Rhodes of Harrisonville; one brother Kenneth A. (and Kathy) Fleming of Warsaw; her nephew Kevin Fleming of Independence; her niece Tracy Fleming of Independence; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held Friday, September 2, 2011, at the funeral home. Reverend Ernie Cecil of the Antioch Southern Baptist Church in Harrisonville officiated. Interment was in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
Visitation was held from Thursday, September, 1, 2011, at the funeral home.
