Steven M. Crawford

Steven Medford Crawford, 70, lifelong resident of Pleasant Hill, was born October 3rd, 1955, in Pleasant Hill, the son of John M. and Mary Louise (Bohannon) Crawford. He departed this life Friday, July 31, 2026, at Lee’s Summit Medical Center.

Steve was a 1973 Pleasant Hill High School graduate.

In June 2003, he was united in marriage to Phyllis Joyce Chafen-Mitchell in Pleasant Hill.

Steve was employed as a Lead Screen Maker for Gills Studio, Inc. in Lenexa. He was an avid fisherman especially for catfish. He loved his family and friends, his truck, and his dogs.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary Louise Crawford, and one brother, Charles Sherman Crawford.

He is survived by his wife Joyce Crawford of Pleasant Hill; four children, Jeff Crawford of Lee’s Summit, Cassy Gentry of Pleasant Hill, Kristina (and Darren) Stringberg of Kansas City, and Mandi Spinale of Harrisonville; one brother, John David “J.D.” (and Barbara) Crawford of Neodesha, Kansas; Also, seven grandchildren; Leanna Gentry, Haddon Crawford, Lula Crawford, Eleanor Crawford, Dalani Stringberg, Sarenity Frey, and Jaida Spinale.

Cremation has been accorded.

A graveside service was held Saturday, August 15, 2026, at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Pastor Tim Casteel officiated.
