Steven Melton

Steven Randall Melton, 66, of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, was born August 19, 1948, in St. Louis, Missouri, the son of Francis Mills and Alverna Geraldine (Sheppard) Melton. He departed this life Tuesday, July 28, 2015, at his home surrounded with love and family.

Steve was 1968 Warrenton, Missouri High School graduate and was a United States Army Vietnam War veteran.

On November 18, 1995, he was united in marriage to Barbara Louise (Truitt) Daley in Pleasant Hill.

Steve was employed as a Route Salesman for the Wonder Bread Company retiring in 2008 and was a proud member of the Teamsters Local #555. He loved to hunt and fish. He also enjoyed reading, woodworking, and smoking various meats. Steve was also gifted at working on computers.

Steve was preceded in death by his father Frank.

He is survived by his wife Barbara of the home; his mother, Alverna of Salem, Missouri; one daughter Melinda Souder of Independence; one step-son Sam (and Darlene) Hensley of Milton, Florida; two step-daughters, Rhonda Vinson of Holden, and Lisa (and David) Hicks of Prattville, Alabama; one brother, Gary (and Glenda) Melton of New Florence, Missouri, one sister, Brenda (and Randy) Copher of Shilo, Illinois; 7 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; other relatives and a host of many friends.

Cremation has been accorded. A celebration of Steven's life will be held 3:00 p.m. Saturday, August 22, 2015, at the funeral home followed by full military honors conducted by the United States Army and the Veteran of Foreign Wars post #3118 Honor Guard.

Visitation will be held 2:00 p.m. until service time.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Kansas City Hospice and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
