Susan Hackett

Susan Virginia Hackett, 57, of Lee's Summit, formerly of Strasburg, was born Wednesday, April 13, 1955, in Harrisonville, the daughter Granville Claude and Rachel Armelda (Johnston) Hackett. She departed this life at 12:35 a.m., Saturday, March 2, 2013, at the Lee's Summit Hospital surrounded with love and family, after a courageous and hard fought 2 A½ year battle with colon cancer.

Susan was a proud graduate of Strasburg C-3 and the Pleasant Hill High School Class of 1972.

She was an Executive Retail Manager for Dick's Sporting Goods. She was a member of the Strasburg Union Church and attended Faith United Methodist Church, Grain Valley.

Susan had an indomitable and competitive spirit that guided her through her life and career. She worked hard and achieved much in her short time here on earth.

She loved her family and was especially fond of all her nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. She loved and cherished all of them as her own.

Susan was preceded in death by her mother Rachel on July 9, 2006.

She is survived by her father Granville of Strasburg; Seven siblings Douglas (and Margie) Hackett of Parkville, Mary Jo Hackett of Harrisonville, David (and Patty) Hackett of Lone Jack, Gene (and Judy) Hackett of Fairmont, Minnesota, Bill (and Vicki) Hackett of Carrollton, Texas; Wesley (and Kay) Hackett of Lee's Summit, Christopher (and Jane) Hackett of Rio Rancho, New Mexico; 13 nieces and nephews, 26 Great Nieces and nephews; other relatives; and a host of many friends.

The family would like to extend their sincerest thanks to Dr. John Davis and staff at the Kansas City Cancer Center and Dick's Sporting Goods for their overwhelming care and support.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at the Faith United Methodist Church, Grain Valley. Susan's brother Reverend David Hackett officiated. Interment was in the Strasburg Cemetery. Casket bearers were Shane Hackett, Brandi Schemerhorn, Mike Hackett, Laura Wille, Colleen Recker, Jim Hackett, Brian Hackett, Philip Hackett, Angela Roach, Matthew Hackett, Aaron Hackett, Amanda Hackett-Hann, and Christopher Hackett.

Visitation was held Tuesday evening at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Faith United Methodist Church (1950 SW Eagles Pkwy, Grain Valley, Missouri 64029) which will be then divided between two Mission Orphanages in India and Haiti that she supported.
