Venice E. Ballard

Venice Earlene Ballard, 85, of Pleasant Hill, was born June 21, 1938, in Gainesville County, Missouri, the daughter of Champ and Mary Helen (Fox) Rogers.   She departed this life Friday, April 19, 2024, at the Belton Regional Hospital.

On November 29, 1993, she was united in marriage to Charlie Mack Ballard in Pleasant Hill.

Venice was employed as a Tax Specialist for James B. Nutter in Kansas City. She had also worked for the House of Lloyd in Grandview.  She loved interior decorating, working in her yard and flower beds, bird watching, and spoiling her pets.  

Venice was preceded in death by her parents; one stepson, Clint “Skip” Ballard; and one brother, Larry Rogers; and one daughter-in-law, Donna Perkins.

She is survived by her husband, Charlie of Pleasant Hill; three sons, Mike (and Tammy) Perkins of Grain Valley, Rick Perkins of Lee’s Summit, and Greg (and Sarah) Gerstner of Cleveland, Tennessee; three stepchildren, Sandra (and Dennis) Bailey and Terri Lynn Ballard, both Bakersfield, California, and Nancy (and Aaron) Miller of Pleasant Hill; one sister, Martha Romi of Pleasant Hill; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

Visitation and funeral services were held Thursday, April 25, 2024 at the funeral home.  Interment was in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.   Pastor Mark Conway officiated.   Casket bearers were Mike Perkins, Rick Perkins, Greg Gerstner, Greg Hayes, E.J. Joose, Chris Richardson, and Dennis Snyder.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
