William Irving Mehrer, 69, of Greenwood, Missouri, was born August 5, 1945, in Pleasant Hill, Missouri, the son of Theodore Herman and Norma Bernice (Redwine) Mehrer. He departed this life Monday, July 27 at his home.

Irving was a 1963 Lee's Summit High School Graduate.

On July 3, 1964, he was united in marriage to Vicki Lynn Hibdon in Mountain Home, Arkansas. She preceded him in death on March 17, 2007.

Irving was employed as a Tool & Die Maker for AT&T. He was an avid gardner and also loved woodworking, fishing and crafting costume jewelry, but his favorite pastime was spending time with his family. Irving never met a stranger, and his affable nature made him instantly likable to all.

He was also preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by 5 sons, Rick Mehrer & wife Michelle Keller, Lee's Summit, Missouri, David & wife Lisa Mehrer, Lee's Summit, Missouri, Paul & wife Jill Mehrer, Phoenix, Arizona, Aaron & wife Brandy Mehrer, Lee's Summit, Missouri, & Jeremy Mehrer, Greenwood, Missouri; 1 daughter, Dana Mehrer, Kansas City, Missouri; 12 Grandchildren (Zachary, Tristan, Jacob, Ryan, Elaina, McKenna, Nathan, Jamie, Chase, Lily, Emily, and William) ; 1 brother, Frank Mehrer of Pleasant Hill; 2 sisters, Priscilla Hamlin & husband Richard of Belton, and Kay Sevy of Creighton.

Funeral serviceswere held Saturday, August 8, 2015, at the funeral home. Burial was in the Greenwood Cemetery. Casket bearers were Rick Mehrer, David Mehrer, Paul Mehrer, Aaron Mehrer, Jeremy Mehrer, and Zachary Mehrer.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Tuberous Sclerosis Alliance as a tribute to Irving's grandson, Nathan, who has the disease, and may be sent to www.tsalliance.org or in care of the funeral home.
