Walter Alley

Walter Loren Alley, 95, of Cameron, Missouri, formerly of Lone Jack, and Pleasant Hill, was born Sunday, June 13, 1915 in Lone Jack, Missouri, the son of Walter and Kelsey (Hunt) Alley. He departed this life at 10:05 a.m. on Thursday, February 17, 2011 at his home in Cameron surrounded by his family.

He was a United States WWII Army Veteran who served in the European Theatre.

On July 23, 1943, Loren was united in marriage to Marjorie Jane Schindorff in Kansas City, Missouri. She preceded him in death on October 6, 2010.

Loren was the livestock commissioner for John Clay and later for Swift and Henry, in St, Joseph, Missouri, retiring in 1980. Prior to that he owned and operated the Reliance Hatchery in Cameron.

He was a true family man who was loved and revered by his daughters, grandchildren and friends. He was an avid gardener, producing an overabundance of fruits and vegetables to which he joyfully shared with his family, friends and neighbors; in his spare time he enjoyed hunting. He was a Mason and also a member of the First Baptist Church of Cameron.

He was also preceded in death by two brothers W.D. Alley and Gene Alley; and two sisters Dorothy Alley and Faye Lester.

He is survived by two daughters, Gayla Moore of Cameron and Lanette Middaugh of Kansas City, Missouri; three grandchildren Chuck Moore and his wife Natalie of New Bloomfield, Missouri; Chris Middaugh and his wife Misty of Kansas City, Missouri, and Isabella Middaugh also of Kansas City; five great grandchildren; one brother John (and Virginia) Alley of Springfield, Missouri; one sister Mary Hendrichs of Springfield; other relatives and many friends.

Graveside funeral services were held Sunday, February 20, 2011, at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Pastor Casey Joyce minister of the First Baptist Church of Cameron officiated. Full military honors were provided by the VFW Post #3118 Honor Guard.
