William N. Hackett

William Newton “Bill” Hackett, 73, of Denton, Texas, formerly of Atlanta, Georgia, was born May 24, 1950, in Strasburg, Missouri, the son of Granville and Rachel (Johnston) Hackett. He departed this life, Thursday, June 22, 2023, at his home surrounded with love and family.

Bill was a 1968 Pleasant Hill, Missouri, high school graduate and a 1972 Central Missouri College graduate.  Following college, he was drafted into the United States Army serving from 1972 to 1974.

On August 24, 1996, he was united in marriage to the love of his life Vicki (Tidwell) Moon.

Bill had been employed for Rollins Inc. in Atlanta for 28 years.   After moving to Texas, he was employed with Aramark, HHS, and retired from being an Independent Consultant in the Health Care Industry.  He was an avid golfer and treasured time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Susan Hackett.

He is survived by his wife Vicki; his daughter, Brandi (and Steve) Schemerhorn; two sons, Dustin (and Lindsey) Moon and Jim (and Holly) Hackett; ten grandchildren who were all his pride and joy,  Alexandria Schemerhorn, Nicholas Schemerhorn, Peyton Moon, Baylee Moon, James Paul Schemerhorn, Carter Lipham, Madi Moon, Elizabeth Schemerhorn, Kalynn Hackett, and Finley Lipham; six siblings, Doug (and Margie) Hackett, Mary Jo Hackett, David (and Patty) Hackett, Gene (and Judy)  Hackett, Wesley (and Kay) Hackett, Chris (and Jane) Hackett; his brother-in-law, Joe (and Wanda) Tidwell; numerous nieces and nephews; other relatives and a host of many friends.

Cremation has been accorded.

A celebration of Bill’s life was held Saturday, June 24th, 2023, at the Flower Mound Family Funeral Home in Flower Mound, Texas.

Graveside memorial services were held Saturday, July 1, 2023, in the Strasburg Cemetery, Strasburg, Missouri.  His brother Pastor David Hackett officiated.  Full military honors were conducted by the Unites States Army and the Veteran’s of Foreign Wars Post #3118 Honor Guard.
