William Ralph “Bill” Markey Jr., 67, Pleasant Hill, Missouri, was born October 10, 1957, in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of William R. “Bill” Sr. and Mary E. “Betty” (O’Brien) Markey. He departed this life Saturday, August 30, 2025, at his home with family by his side.
Bill was a 1976 O’Hara Catholic High School graduate. He later attended Longview Community College and graduated from Southwest Missouri State University in 1982.
On March 23, 1985, he was united in marriage to Carole Annette Gallipeau in Kansas City, and to this union two children, Claire and T.J. were born.
Bill was employed as Vice President of Sales for Lynk, Inc, in Lenexa where he was set to retire on September 1, 2025. He was a member of the St. Bridget Catholic Church, Pleasant Hill. He was meticulous in nature and loved to work in his house, garage, and yard. He also enjoyed spending time at their lake house at Pomme de Terre. Above all he loved time spent with family.
Bill is survived by his wife, Carole of Pleasant Hill; two children, Claire (and Nick) Canaan of Pleasant Hill and T.J. (and Kristina) Markey of Castle Rock, Colorado; four grandchildren, Noelle Canaan, Ryanne Canaan, Dylan Markey, and Madison Markey; his mother, Betty Markey of Kansas City; five siblings, Kacey (and Roger) Hobson and Rich (and Patty) Markey, of Overland Park, Mary (and David Holland) Markey, of Lee’s Summit, Jim (and Michele) Markey of Greenwood, and John (and Debbie) Markey of Battlefield, Missouri; one brother-in-law, Mike Waddle of Pleasant Hill; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Bill Markey Sr.; son-in-law, Matt Young in 2013; one granddaughter, Alexis Canaan in 2017; and one sister, Jill Waddle in 2024.
Visitation and Mass of Christian burial was held Saturday, September 6, 2025, at the St. Bridget Catholic Church. Father Curt Vogel officiated. Inurnment was in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
A celebration of life dinner followed mass at Birdies Boutique, Harrisonville.
